My PFP LOL

Zhiyan Chen

Who am I?

Hi Everyone! I'm a Computer Science major student at the University of Central Florida. I've been working at a family-owned small-business for over a decade now as a cashier. As I grew more, I became responsible for more roles, which include delivery driver and primary IT technician. Throughout the time there, I've learned proper customer service etiquette and ways to manage business-critical technologies. I've also built several technical skills throughout my K12 years, including linux/windows management, Windows Active Directory, database management, as well as programming skills over multiple languages (C, C#, Python, JS/TS, etc.). I'm also a bilangual, speaking/reading chinese natively. Although my volcabulary is limited, conversational is still possible.

Portfolio Progress Analysis

So far, the website progress has been going great! I've challenged myself to implement the website using source code rather than drag and drop (like google site or wix) as a way to keep my development skills sharp. Of course, there are few challenges such as learning new framework/tools and having to refresh existing knowlege, but the ability to look-up resources and using AI-assisted programming definitely help speed the development. For the assignment itself, it's not too bad either mostly because I've created a similar portfolio page for my other writing classes, so I know how the website is going to look. The only challenge I might face is figuring out how to embed the audio file neatly with my other text files since that's something I've never had to do for my other portfolio. Of course, the website is made for ease of readability by using black, grey, and white only text/background. Adding colors can make the pages look better, but it could worsen the readability. For layout, just three navigation button taking you directly to the pages that's on the website and there's few pop-up, specifically in projects tab, to help keep the page clean and only show the content the user want to see.
